Delores McAvoy is a long-time artist and art teacher. Now well known
for her oil and acrylic paintings, Delores started drawing early in
life, using people and animals as her first subjects. When she was in
the fifth grade she expanded her artistic vision by visiting art museums
around her Ohio hometown. In her last year of high school in Norfolk,
Virginia, she won a scholarship to the Atlanta Art Institute. While
attending, she met and married Holice McAvoy of Washington, Georgia, and
moved there in 1956.
Delores began teaching art
at the Wilkes Academy in 1971. She currently conducts art classes to
students of all ages on The Square in Washington, Georgia. Her award
winning work in oil and acrylic paintings spans more than 3 decades. |
